What is the Holiday Mail for Heroes program?
The Holiday Mail for Heroes program is a joint effort between Pitney Bowes and the American Red Cross to enable all Americans to send a touch of home during the holiday season to members of our U.S. Armed Forces, veterans and their families. Through this initiative, Americans can help spread much-needed holiday cheer and thanks to these real heroes of America and their families. Pitney Bowes and the Red Cross have set a goal to receive one million cards this year!

Where do I send my cards?
Please send all cards to the address below. Remember, your cards must be post marked no later than December 9th, 2011.

Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

Is there a deadline to send cards?
Yes. All cards must be postmarked no later than December 9th, 2011 to ensure that cards can be distributed this holiday season. Cards sent after the deadline will be returned to the sender.

Since cards are not addressed to anyone specific, who gets these cards?
Cards will be distributed to services members, veterans, and family members around the nation, either individually or through displays.

Will my cards be distributed to our troops stationed overseas?
Your cards will either be distributed to U.S. military members overseas or based in the States, their families or U.S. veterans. Please understand that it's difficult to determine which cards will be sent to locations overseas or in the U.S.

Can I drop off cards at a local Pitney Bowes or Red Cross office?
Due to security concerns, cards must be sent to the PO Box (listed above). This ensures that all cards are screened for hazardous materials and can be delivered on time before the holidays to military men and women, their families and veterans.

How does the program work?
From November 3 until December 9, customers and the public are invited to send holiday cards with their message of thanks and cheer to a special post office box. Pitney Bowes will screen the holiday cards for hazardous materials and ship them to Red Cross chapters around the nation. Red Cross and Pitney Bowes volunteers will read and sort the cards and will then deliver them to military bases and hospitals, veteran's hospitals, and other locations during the holidays in the U.S. and abroad.

What is Pitney Bowes's role in the campaign?
Pitney Bowes is providing all screening, packaging and shipping at no charge, as well as providing thousands of volunteer hours from employees around the country.

If I have more than one card do I have to send them individually?
You do not have to send them individually. Please send them in one large envelope to the designated mailing address. All cards will be removed from their envelopes prior to distribution, and any inserted materials will be removed. So it's not necessary to include individual envelopes. Please limit the number of holiday cards you send to 15.
